Ingredients
Meatballs:
- Ground beef (1lb | 450 g)
- Bread crumbs (1/2 cup)
- Egg (1)
- Onion, diced (1/2)
- Garlic, minced (2 cloves)
- Parmesan, grated (1/2 cup)
- Oregano, dried (1 tbsp)
- Salt (2 tsp)
- Ground pepper (1/2 tsp)
Tomato Basil Sauce:
- Olive oil (2 tbsp)
- Onion, chopped (1/2)
- Garlic, chopped (2 cloves)
- Crushed canned tomatoes (3 1/2 cups)
- Tomato paste (2 tbsp)
- Basil, chopped (1/2 cup)
- Oregano, dried (1 tbsp)
- Salt (1 tsp)
- Ground pepper (1/2 tsp)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F or 200°C.
- In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients and mix using your hand.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs and evenly space them on a baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-low heat. Add onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes, then add garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered over low heat for 15 minutes.
- Add meatballs to the sauce. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
- Serve with egg noodles or spaghetti. Garnish with fresh parsley and parmesan.
